Why does Ford suck now ?

Question:
Seems like they used to build good trucks, but now they are junk. (I have an 05 and been in the shop a lot)
Brother has an 04 that has had a total of $22,000 worth of warranty work. Not saying G.M. or Dodge is any better, seems all three are not making the grade.

Central Locking on 97 VW Jetta Problem?

Ford goofed way back in 1997 when they replaced the 4.9,5.0 and 5.8 with the 4.2, 4.6 and 5.4. They used car motors in trucks. Trucks require engines with ALOT beefier internal structure. Yes the motors make the power, BUT they lack the overall OOMPH needed to properly maintain that power in Truck duty. I think it is quite SAD especially since Ford is Boasting over how well they have built the F-150 and I agree hands down there is NOT another truck on the market that is built even close to as good as the new F-series trucks, BUT with those designed for a car engines/transmissions they aren't cutting it and are the weak failure link in the overall package. I might get some flack from modular owners (I've got one) but fact is the 4.6 and 5.4 are CAR motors 3.5" pistons with itty bitty main bearings--Seriously where's the BEEF! Ford will finally have a drivetrain worthy of their magnificent truck in the 08 Model Year with the new BOSS engines. (4" Pistons and LARGE main bearings again--YAY!!) The 6.2L will be avail. as early as late 07 model year and is slated to go on Sale along with the 4.6 and 5.4 as an upgraded engine. F-250+ Trucks will be available with 5.4/6.2 or Diesel NO MORE JUNKY POS V10--YAY!! They have a 5.0 and 7.0 Version to be available later down the road as well.

95 Jeep Cherokee suddenly shuts off while driving.?

--Forget about the Toyota Sludge issue mentioned--Sludge forms because people use crappy oil and do not keep up with regular maintenance. The only "Real" quality control issue Toyota has managed to keep covered up and out of mainstream for so long lies with the mid 80's 22RE--this is the EFI 4 banger, not the 22R Carbed 4 banger. The walls are WAY too thin and the slightest overheating will crack the head and blow the head gasket. Good thing Japan requires engines replaced at the 30K mile mark and you can buy these a dime a dozen. I never changed the oil in my 84 Truck, The engines only lasted me about 2500 miles a pop and after #6 I scrapped the truck altogether.

Does anyone have a link for how to how to bypass the OEM fuel pump on a Jeep?

---The new Tundra is quite impressive I think Toyota finally figured it out and built a truck worthy to be placed in the fullsize halfton class. BUT--They're Ugly and I don't like sending my hard earned American dollars Overseas, The Import brands have a VAST majority of Americans Fooled that most of their cars are now "Made in America" but Don't be fooled ALL the parts are manufactured overseas shipped here and THEN assembled in the USA mostly by machines (also made in Japan) with a few thousand American workers collecting a paycheck to justify their claims of "now made in America" The Import Tariffs on all of the parts is WAY WAY WAY Cheaper than it would be for a finished product. this keeps MORE of our hard earned American Dollars in the pockets of Non-Americans.

Which size tire and rims should I get?

American cars are second rate over Japanese and German cars. American car designers seem to prefer style and toys over actual function and durability. Also it seams as if the American automobile industry and the American oil industry have an unholy alliance to keep gas mileage low. Manufacturing quality was notoriously bad. It *may* have improved in the last decade.

Is it bad to have too much transmission fluid in your car?

You and your brother may have just gotten lemons, or Ford trucks now just suck. All American car makers have been loosing cash the past few years, and Ford the worst. Maybe to cut costs they are reducing the quality of manufacturing.

Vauxhall Zafira 1999-2005 Do they all come with 7 Seats?

theyve always sucked. its only that youve just noticed now.

Is my exhaust too big?

dont listen to the drivel that american car companies are making crap cars from that other fella either. jdpowers polls indicates that GM and ford are near the top in initial quality for recent models. if that will hold for five years then they will have better durability. we have yet to see.

Peugeot 406 p reg estate anyone know how to change the security keypad code please?

anyway, toyota has a massive engine sludge issue that people dont really know about in their ubiquitous V6 engines. and theyve had a lot of recalls/ technical service bulletins recently

I am buying a 2004 Volvo S40 1.9t. Is it possible for me to find an aftermartket Turbo that I can replace the

you are talking about 04-06 fords when they were losing billions.us now ford is doing the best it has done in years. they are now finally gaining moneyes and not losing it. in my opinion after looking at ford overviews on 07 models, they a lot more up to date on quality. but i do agree that for some reason, the 04-06 models did seem junky.

What is a fair price on a 1958 renault floride?

Do you know that Ford owns Ford, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mazda(controls 33.4%), Mercury, Volvo(cars only). Did you know that Ford has the best all wheel drive system in the world. I bet you didn't know that my Ford has over 250,000 miles on it with the original engine and trans and it still runs and drives.

Stock '95 7.3 w/ 296,000..?

Thank price of oil and federal gov.
Everything has to be lighter for fuel/power, so everything is plastic. The lighter the car/truck the worse it gets.

Can i change my non turbo 240sx to turbo?

Tyler, how do you figure that Ford is doing the best it has in years, they lost 16 billion dollars last year!!! All car sales are down due to cheaper inports flooding the market like Kia and such. The new 3V 5.4L had a few problems in 04 and early 05 but they got that straightened out now.
My 01 F150 OFFROAD 4x4 had been a really good truck. It has almost 69,000 miles on it now and I love it.
Ford trucks are still very good trucks. The first year of any new model is going to have problems. They always do. Give Ford a chance, they'll make your truck right.

Looking for a place near fort knox that will install a lift kit or shackle lift on my jeep, any ideas?

Rocky, there is a small percentage of you guys that have blown plugs. I've read about them. Most are caused by inproper installation (some at the factory) which causes them to come loose. This is what ruins the threads. There are only about 4 threads in the head until mid 2003 when they added more threads. I personally know of nobody that has blown a plug. Mine has 69,000 miles on it and has been trouble free. I'm gonna change them myself later this week.

Visions and ideas required that will help people rise above the feelings of hopelessness?

Sure they will Jac. Ask all of us who own 5.4 that have had the spark plugs blow out of them do to a design flaw in the head. Every dealer I've talked to has told me the same thing. THe head has too few threads to hold the plug in. EVERY ONE OF THEM. But Ford denies any problem, so the consumer is stuck paying anywhere from $3000 t0 $5000 for the repair. Don't believe me? Check it for yourself. Google Ford Spark Plug Blow Out. There is even a tool that was manufactured specifically for this repair.

Chevrolet caprice classic question.?

Ford Make the best trucks on the planet , but your right they all have there mistakes, sorry to hear you have some glitches it could be who's working on it, UN qualified people that don't know beans about what they do ? what I do know the (some ) mechanics today don't know much, or what to look for, they all say ASE that Means nothing , it's all In Experience, I own several Ford Trucks and Two of them Have over 200,00 thousand miles on em and they pass smog every year and don't leak oil or burn it, but then again I know how to take car of vehicles try a differing shop, good luck

2001 chevy silverado ww shifter?

Some of you posters are retarded. Ford doesnt engineer their motors Navistar does. any and all flaws are Navistars not ford, also their old 6.0 diesel was an international motor not a ford. I do warranty for Ford. I also worked at GM and Toyota they all have problems. I know 3 weeks ago Yahoo.com ran an article for the 10 most recalled vehicles had NO FORDS in the top 10. most were dodge trucks and foreign cars. Also the low morale of the workers at these factories has to come into factor. Just picture if it was you. Everyday waking up thinking today could be the day the factory closes because the US GVNMT is letting imports flood our economy with no regard to the AMERICAN WORKERS

Can anyone remember the name of the two door suzuki sports car in the early 1980s?

in the past, american cars were the ultimate machines. Ford Trucks were rough, tough, and could handle anything. I own a 72 and my uncle owns the same year and he has had half the amount of problems as my mom has had with her 01 Explorer.

Because they place quantity over quality which is a big no no.

Where can i find an infiniti dealership in oakland california?

I suggest you just do yourself a favor and go with a Toyota or Honda. You won't be disappointed. Now surely you might pay more to purchase the car but then again you'll end up paying less in the long run. You'll have far more problems with Ford or Chevy than you will with Toyota or Honda.
