Question:
...something happened, I believe me and my wife both instinctively pushed the lock/unlock button once when we got to a church function. We got out, closed our doors, then I had this feeling, almost clairvoyance of what had happened. I tried clothes hangers, a small tree limb, nothing was sturdy enough to push the manual lock latch or to press the electric button. Finally after about 10 minutes, I saw my 17 month old with sweat running down his face. I stuck my fingers in the small openenig at the top of the drivers window, and pulled down hard. Something snapped and the window went loose and rested where it stays when you roll it down. I got my son and went inside the church. My question is, what the hell did I do to my window? It wont roll up. I can manually pick it up, then turn the loose knob until it stops, and the window will stay (until it vibrates down, then rinse and repeat.) I have never explored the depths of a car door. Is there a diagram I can use

You broke some part of your window regulator and even though it stays in the track it will have no function until whatever part (plastic or otherwise) broke is replaced...The problem with this is that window regulators for most cars come as a complete assembly and parts thereof are not available separately...BTW...good job on rescuing the boy...Ford escort mk5 3 door bodyshell?
