coming from behind my front drivers tire and is killing my battery and i have people telling me that it is my brakes but what is the grinding gear sound and the vibrations behind my driver front tire what ever it is and how can i fix it and if it is my brakes if i change them will the thing turn off??? i dont know

I ran into this at the shop i used to manage. Go to the GM website or search google. Gm put a recall on 200-2005 GM Trucks because the mounted abs modulator is locate under the drivers side ,on the fram right behind the fron tire. When Factory installed this, they did not put enought protection and the northern winters caused them to corrode and malfunction. They replaced it at no charge. I told my dad and they replaced his alson and there were no problems, so I wold look into that. Changing the brakes will not always turn off an ABS Light. First thing to do is have the codes checked. Most Auto Part Chains do this for free...Autozone, Checker to name a couple. The Grinding gear sound could be the abs pump.How to remove trunk lining in a 97 Mark VIII?

Need brakes!!!! The ABS light will come on when your brakes are too thin, not sure if this is the case with your vehicle but it is with some. But if theres grinding you really need not to drive it. Get it to a brake shop.

your abs light came on to let you know there is a problem with the abs system so it has shut your abs system off. Most likely your wheel bearing is shot on the drivers side and your abs sensor is attached to that bearing. I would take it to the Dealership so they can fix your problem and turn your light off.Check the brake fluid. If it is low check the brakes if it ok than have it put on a abs scanner at your local shop or dealer.
it is your abs module that is running continously, under the hood in fuse box pull the 60 fuse to turn it off to save your battery, this will eliminate veh having abs brakes will just have regular braking, part is very expensive sells for $1315.00 for just the part
your abs light will stay on , light does not come on when you need new pads , changing them will not affect the light in anyway
it also doesnt monitor fluid level
