Help removing cat converter??!?

Question:
i have a 2003 honda accord im trying o replace the tock cat coverter and exhaust manifold . my problem is i cant get the damn thing out.!! does anyone know of any tricks to get through all the dirt and rust or whatever else there might be holding it together .. i tried wd-40 let it set for awhile and still nothing ... what do you think about grinding it out????

Answers:

Just added engine oil?

I only question why you are replacing it. The catalytic converter and the exhaust manifold are under the Honda emissions warranty for 8 years/80,000 miles. if your under that age (which you are if it is a 2003) and under the 80,000 miles and there is a problem with either they should be replaced at no charge by a Honda dealer.

When will then new 2008 toyota camry will be out?

if you're 'upgrading' the exhaust its a knuckle-buster. Everyone I know uses pneumatic (air) impact wrenches to break the bolts loose without breaking the studs off. I would suggest you soak the bolts in penetrating oil, overnight if necessary and then use a breaker bar to get additional leverage. If you don't have a breaker bar you can use a 2 foot length of steel pipe over the handle of a socket drive wrench then push down on the steel pipe to get additional torque on the bolthead. Go easy with the breaker bar or you'll twist the studs off.
again, if its under warranty, take it to the dealer and let them worry about getting it off. if its not under warranty or it is an upgrade, you may want to take it to a muffler shop and pay them to at least have them break everything loose for you if not to install your new system.

Locked myself out of my ford f150?

I've been to some shop that heat the nuts that are rusted to loosen them, so you might want to try it, use a lower heat propane torch don't be stupid and try to make things go faster by using a cutting torch.

Ford engines how long do they last?

That's a common problem, The extreme heat causes every thing to rust really bad. If the car can run start it up and let the bolts heat up that might help, but if it don't do what ever you need to to get it out?

Anyone know why the clutch fluid would be leaking? any and all differential diagnoses would be appreciated.?

u need a good torch to heat up the bolts and a breaker bar or piece of pipe on your socket to get them off. MAPP gas in the yellow cylinder will do it just fine. i used it with my regular propane nozzle to get off my exhaust manifold bolts. be sure to wear goggles as the rust will fly into your eyes and it is mighty hot. good luck. why are u taking off cat?

What is the tax on a vauxhall frontera?

My method is using the grinder, to cut the bolts off, but make sure you have replacements bolts and nuts of the same size of oem.Took me about 30 minutes to take it off and put a new one.

Where the heck can I find that part name from.?

My question is .. How did you get a cat in your converter in the first place. Poor kitty!
