What size is the engine? 4, 6, or 8 cylinders? How hard did the person drive it before putting it up for sale? Was it ever a rental? Did the previous owners stringently change the oil every 3,500 - 4,000 kms(not 5,000)? Were most of the miles put on the car in towns and cities or on the highways? Has the engine been kept properly tuned at regular intervals? Was it driven in winter? Does it have any oil leaks?On a dual exhaust, will having bigger pipes after the exhaust affect sound or performance?
Get the point or would you like me to continue? It's not a nice body or a good set of tires that make a car go.
Personally, I wouldn't pay $5,000 for an 11 year old Honda. (11 years cuz' a '97 is actually built in '96)
Nevertheless, I've heard those cars getting 450,000 + kms on them before giving out. I'm just offering questions that I ask myself when buying a used car.

If it was well maintained, u should get 500,000km out of it. Change the oil & filter every 5000 km, timing belt every 90,000km, tune-up, fuel filter and rad flush every 2 years. Make sure you get a mechanic to check it over to make sure tranny oil is pink not brown. Brown means you need a new tranny. My father had one and it was a great car. $5000.00 seems a little steep, I would figure anywhere between $3600 base 4 cylinder to $4700 for 6cyl top of the line in good condition (privately). Go to www.kbb.com which is kelley blue book, because price depends on options and trim level. If your negotiating offer $1500.00 less and you may save around $700-$800 dollars. if u want to know what it is worth, go to autotrader.com and do a nation wide search for your car. u will find an average asking price. i would have to translate your data to usa and i am guessing its about 4500 for 200k miles. seems a tad high but thats just my guess..Ford transit 1993 power steering failure help please?
If certified means that it has received a thorough examination to make sure there are no problems, then definitely - even with such high mileage (oops, kilometerage) it sounds like a bargain. Hondas are excellent cars; I have a 1989 Accord that has withstood the test of time.How can I access the fuse box under the driver side for a '91 Honda Accord?
If the car has not been inspected, I suggest you have a technician at a service station give it the once-over. That doesn't cost much, and it will save you a lot of grief.
