GM is far better than Ford and Chrysler right now, but their basic problems are all still there -- high labor costs, cheap materials and confusing option packages that run the base price up. they also discount their vehicles and kill the resale values of every model they build.

The only reason Honda, toyota and these other Japanese cars sell good in America is because the president doesn't care about the American auto makers. If he would slap tariffs on these jap cars the big 3 America auto company's would have a chance to compete against those crappy Japanese cars. Just to let everyone know now if the 3 American auto company's go belly-up so will the U.S. economy.Toyota, Hyundai, and Honda all build most of their cars for our market, here in the U.S. There are plants in Illinois, Alabama, all over. So to me, these cars are almost more American than American cars are. Not to mention they are employing thousands more while Ford and GM continue layoffs. If I got laid off from Ford I would be next in line at Toyota.
