Riviera is not an Oldsmobile its a Buick
But your right Tornado was and Olds ..
They were built to compete or compare to each other .. I would say maybe the Riv was a bit higher in rank but I owned several Tornado's and they were nice too , they were the first larger cars to have front wheel drive ...

Neither of those cars are in production anymore. Oldsmobile sold the Toronado and Buick sold the Riviera. Both vehicles were marketed as personal luxury cars and were very nice.
Oldsmobile also had the Ninety Eight, and Buick had the Electra 225 which became Buick Park Ave. Those were the flagship cars for each of the respected makes.
