The USA did economic development for Japan after WW II . We help them build factories and commercial businesses so they can get back on their feet after the war. I would say we help get them started . But our auto makers were slow during the oil crisis's of the 1970's and recent run up in oil prices. Many of their cars are always tried for economy on gas. While US auto makers were just looking for profits from quarter to quarter.I guess we were paid back for the burning of German cities, and nuking Japan two cities. we could have demostrated by destroying a small island. We provoked them into war by shuting of the oil we sold them.Wars are always about oil or something. Nam too was about looking for oil,and when we did not find it,we pulled out. Now Nam has a big find,now we want to be friends. Sad huh.
I would say. Orientals generally seem a little tighter knit. Japan never got into another conflagration of any kind again, it doesn't have much of an economic problem if no one gets overly acquisitve which hasn't changed in a couple thousand years.
