Thinking about getting used Chevy Blazer. Should I do it?

I have about $4,000 saved up, and about another $1,000 and I can buy a used Chevy Blazer 4dr. Would this be a good buy? Are there any problems with it? What's reliablity like?

My family has had 2 blazers, one older body, one newer. Never a problem. If the blazer you get has the 'dex cool' coolant in it, have it flushed out and replaced with regular coolant.

I wouldn't get the blazer if it has a 4.3L engine, they are bad for interior leaking of the engine. and NEVER change the coolant TYPE, if its DEX-COOL stick with it, it was designed to protect the metal combinations of the engine, as where the regular "green" coolant is not designed for it and will eat the seals and gaskets and over all damage the interior path ways. I see many blazers at my work, and i never see them last over 250 000km and if they do then they don't run very good.

i had a 4.3 Blazer not a bad engine, transmission had problems but i think GM has fixed that problem after 1988. I didnt keep it passed 120000 miles so dont know about the SUV after that . Do not change the dex cool its there by way of GM and was meant for the car. Stick with what is OEM if the oil has been changed on time and there are no leaks, weird sounds, and you have power probobley will last for a while. If you feel funny about it take it to a Mechanic and have a diagnostic check out. They will check for leaks brakes, plug wires, do a pressure test onthe raidator, belts battery the whole thing then make your decision.

I leased 3 of them, 96, 98, 2001 and had no trouble with any of them while I had them and the 4.3 always ran good, it uses gas though but they always went good in snow.
