I am a female, interested in purchasing a 2007 Scion TC Manual Trans. After researching the vehicle, I went for a test drive, & was surprized by the difficulties I had shifting, partic. downshifting in an emergency stop. The 2nd issue was merging into traffic due to the obstructed left window view (do drivers no longer worry about blind spots?)

I had a similar problem with the transfer from Honda/gm/Nissan to Toyota. The thing i have learned is that Toyota had some blind spots that you cant help but notice. Like judging the bumpers front and back, and the door pillar is very obvious because of how the seats are shaped. It will take some time getting use to the mirror. The clutch now is a different matter next time you test drive try to move off without touching the gas pedal. in Toyota also don't granny shift (doing revs between shifting gears) throws off your gears and timing the gears helps but not like a Honda there are no limitations in the gears until red-line. when doing an emergency stop try to use more brake and less clutch {when i am trying to stop and i am in 5 gear doing about 60mph i hold the clutch down shift to 3 gear hold on the clutch and brake moderately and slowly release the clutch locking my wheels on for a few second and then apply full brake i get a dead stop , this takes time to get used to}.More Questions & Answers ...
