Most Mercedes are made in Germany.The ML-class SUV that are sold in the U.S. and in Europe are ALL made in Alabama.
It is not the reason for the reliability issues because the Mercedes built in Germany are just as unreliable. Mercedes quality and reliablity has declined steadily since the late 1980s and it has nothing to do with where they are built. It has everything to do with the company cutting corners and trying to maximize profits and spreading itself too thin.

Once upon a time a Mercedes-Benz was one of the very best cars money could buy. Now they are no better than a BMW, Audi or Volvo. They are just another European brand, not a legend anymore. In fact BMW and the others are more reliable and often better built than the others.

Now, another big reason why Mercedes (at least the C class) is having reliability issues because they have switched chassis and engines, including some parts produced in US (no more Bosch). Pretty much, every 2-3 years or so they are redesigning their cars, unlike before. This leads to a lot of bugs, just like the new Windows.

most mercedes are german produced -some suv's are american produced= the reliability issues that are currently present are due to bad electronics and the adoption of technology that was not "ready for widespread use" and has simply failed in the real world enviroment- for example the difficulties with the ML series have been with their electronic alarm systems and related systems( car won't start becuse it did not tell the engine computer that you had turned off the alarm etc) Other issues have been electronic as well like AC etcBridgstone RFT are they on all series up thru 7?

most european car companies are having this problem because they and thier suppliers have not kept improving their quality while the asian companies have improved dramatically and the american car companies have improved a whole lot as well
