How do you change the transmission fluid in a 1998 VW Beetle?
Its definately your heater core. You should bypass the core as soon as you can. Then you should start figuring out how you're going to replace the core. I don't know what a shop will charge for it. I changed my own and it was a lot of work. The whole dash has to come out. From there you have to start removing all of the ac/heater components. There are a lot of little clips that are hidden behind the units. Make sure and remove them before you start yanking things out. You'll be amazed by how well things are held in place.Good luck.
It sounds like you have a bad heater core. I would have it replaced or if you live in a warm climate area you can just bypass it
