Depends on what you want to do. The newer engine is designed to work with 1996-newer OBD2 series electronics. The '92 ECM is the obsolete OBD1 system, which is much more primitive. It likely won't be a drop-in, plug-in swap. You will need the '97 electronics to run the '97 engine.
