Cheap used Subaru?

Question:
I am looking for a "clunker" car since my last one just died, and we just bought a new vehicle. I do not want two car payments. Most days I take public transit, but some days I need to take a car (have things I have to do after work, etc). I want something that is reasonably reliable, does well in snow, and isn't horrible on gas (below 20mpg on highway). It would be nice if it were something easy to work on as well. Since I am going on the cheap, I know it will be older and I want it to be under $4k.

Look for a Subaru legacy 90-94 or Impreza 93-96. You should be able to find one in your price range. Check auto trader, carmax or eBay.
