Correct Transmission fluid for 1995 Toyota Camry?

Question:
my book calls for Dextron II fluid. at the store, they did not have this, but had an "all purpose" fluid made by Quaker State that advertised it was good for all vehicles made after 1990, and on the label on the reverse side, had a list of cars, one was Toyota. Will this be safe to use or should I search around for Dextron?

Answers:

on a 1989 ford ranger, which way do you unscrew the fan clutch to remove.i have a 2.9 engine?

unless it tells you somewhere SPECIFICALLY to use only dexron II fluid, you can use dexron III. in 99% of cases, the Dex3 covers Dex2. there are only a handful of cars that cant have that done, but toyota, i believe is ok. if you have any concerns, call the service department at your local dealership and ask what they do. i work at an auto fast lube and i havent come across a toyota yet that didnt take dex3 in place of dex2
