It's obvious competitors from the fatherland are Audi A4 and mercedes C class.Also to consider is the Lexus is200, Jaguar X-type and alfa romeo 156. The other brands such as the Ford Mondeo, Subaru Legacy and such like, are the same size, but they are not "premium" cars like the above, as a result, they're cheaper.

Since I'm assuming your contemplating buying an BMW 3 series, let me give you this fact. I drive a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer 5.0L V8. I go to open drag night alot and routinely smoke BMW's. Having that said if you want any sort of self respect in a BMW make sure you get the more powerful engine. Nothing more embarassing than a rich man getting beat by an SUV.you smoke bmw's on a consistent basis huh! well, i drive a deadstock e46 328i, and if you wanna run for titles let me know where to meet you at, ill bring a trailer to tow my mercury home with me. better do the research before you talk tool, cause im running a 14.8 second quarter mile. you might be running a 17 secondquarter mile.
