Question:
i have a 1999 dodge dakota 3.9L v6. Why cant i get faster than 110mph!?? is it electronically or govnor limited? because i kno it can go faster, the rpm is only at about 4200 or so and it stops directly at 110mph. this is a very serious question, not for people to criticize me on how fast i want to go or if i need more power, b/c even the 5.2 and 5.9L wont go faster than 110. so i'm not lacking the power... so what is it?

its limited by the computer, you'll have to get a performance chip for it :(Volkswagen vs. Volvo.... Who wins?
The computer is limiting your vehicle speed. This is due to either the safe limits of the stock tires and wheels, or the safe limits of the driveshaft, which if out of round, can break if it turns too fast.citroen xsara t reg, where does the oil go?? i've no handbook?
There is not much you can do about it. I believe this limit is in the owners manual of any car you buy. Some are higher than others.

Most programmers can over ride that, some Dodge dealerships will also, if you talk to the right person. You can also try a custom interface if you are good with electronics and have access to a scan tool. How do I check the fuel pressure in a 97 Jeep Cherokee?
It has as you called it "a govnor". You can buy a hypertech power programmer modual that plugs into your cpu outlet in your truck for around $200 that will over-ride this. It also lets you program your shift points by alowing you to decide at what rpm to change gears. It also allows you to change tire size and some other options. Check it out. It's worth it, and it'll boost your hp by quite a bit for such a small price. I had stock 285 hp and with it, k&n airfilter, and some exhaust........i'm pumping 345. Not to bad considering it's all still stock. Your max speed with this programmer depends on the type of tires you input into the computer. I put the high performance option in "even though my tires aren't" and can now truck around 130 mph. That's just because that's the max speed the programmer has for that type of tire. A chip doesn't do near the stuff a programmer does.your computer in your vehicle wont let it go any faster it shuts the fuel off you need a chip or computer programmer all vehicles shut off at 110 or 115mph
Most governors will limit your speed to 80 mph and no higher. If it is something like that, then you would have to go to a dealership to have the programming changed. If you are under 18 then the dealer will laugh at you. Not sure what else to tell you, besides knock out the catalytic converters.
landrover dicovery abs light??
You other option is sell the Dakota, and purchase a vehicle from the early eighties or earlier. My 84 Nissan 300zx has a 3.0L and can do 140 all day if it's long enough. However buying an older car is also less safe, because of lack of features and age.

order up a programmer, look on ebay, or dodge dakota forums in the for sale section. Is there any recalls on '07 Chevy Aveo?
The programmers you can choose from is either hypertech or superchips, these raise the speedo limiter and change your shift points, you can also recalibrate your speedo for different tire sizes, and the superchips can also read error codes, or since your vehicle is old enough, you might be able to find a mopar performance pcm(computer). Just stay away from the JETS chips, heard nothin good about them. All the programmers are like $300 brand new and used you can usually find them for like $200. If you buy it used, make sure it is unlocked (original owner put his computer back to stock before selling it) Or look on ebay for one.
Yes you have a governor at 110mph on your truck. You can buy a programmer to change or delete that depending on how much you want to buy. If you are interested email me and I can get you some prices.
Has anyone ever had a problem with a Saturn Ion?
As everyone else has said, yeah, it is governed. I own a 97 dodge neon that does the same thing, it tops out at 115 mph. You can buy a programmer or a chip. Try checking online or at a parts store. Good Luck. :-)how do you ajust roller rockers on chevy 350?
