the answer is no. if you open up the exhaust you will loose a little bit of power due to a drop in back pressure, in non turbo applications the less back pressure the better(gas or diesel) however the turbo needs a slight amount of back pressure to spool correctly. Now a modified engine ie bigger turbo and injectors will allow for an open exhaust, granted the right combination of mods are used. You can upgrade your exhaust system for a lil more power and mileage. But some people thinks it drops mileage, whats really happening the enjoy the new sound and are in the throttle a little more.lol.
