What is the RED key for a Ferrari and why is it important?
a 97 to 2005 will come with a 1.8L turbocharged engine, a 2.8L V6 or the 4.0L W8. a 97-2001.5 1.8T will have about 150 hp stock and the v6 model has about 175 or so. the 2002-2005 1.8T should be around 170 hp and the v6 is between 190-200. the w8 has 270 hp. to put power to the ground, youre going to want 4motion on whichever. the passat is a heavier car and i honestly dont think you will ever mod a passat to beat a charger r/t. doesnt mean you cant try.for the 1.8T- big turbo (gt28rs, gt2871r, etc.) and proper software, turbo-back exhaust, FMIC, gasket matching, injectors, add custom heat shielding to intake, and so on. with all this properly tuned, you could get 250-300 hp. this costs a LOT and you will need a coilover suspension kit to control the power.
for the v6- g2 supercharger by PES and software, injectors, exhaust. you could also fabricate a twin turbo design (its been done) and all of the things that go along w/ it. again, lot of money.
the w8 is probably your best bet. there are chips available that raise the governor. these cars are somewhat rare, but are getting cheaper due to gas prices.
if you really have your heart set on beating a charger with a german car, id say get an audi s4. loads of power and a better overall vehicle. price is going to be the only limiting factor in all of these.
good luck
