10W30janice r Hi you can use 10W30 all year around and that is acceptable .. If you live in a very hot climate in summer try 10W40 for summer & 10W30 for winter .. In reality the mechanic my be asking what type of oil natrual ( although no oil is complety natrual any more ) or synithic . Synithic is twice the price and can extend oil changes .. I use natrual and change every 3000 miles . Some new cars will tell you to change every 5000 . But the old rule of 3000 is very good for the internal engine parts .. As for brand I use Penn. but any good brand oil is ok ... Just Do Not use re-cycled oil .. And change your filter also your motor should be hot when you change oil. This lets any heavy impurties drain with the oil .. Good Luck ...
