I am looking at buying one, but I don't know what I think about buying the first year of a new idea. I know in California they had Electric Rav-4 and hybrids for the electric company, but never seen a hylander. Does anyone have one and have they had any problems?

Few bits of information. First, it is the second to latest of the technology that Toyota has been using in its hybrids since it's first Prius in 1996, so it's not new technology, actually the 4th generation. Also the technology is 2 generations beyond the technology that was licensed to Ford and Lincoln for their hybrids that's why with a much larger vehicle, the efficiency is about the same.Keep in mind you have to look at what you're comparing when you look at efficiency. 25-30 MPG may not seem like alot, but for a 7-passenger SUV where most of them are getting in the 11-14 MPG range, you're talking about doubling your gas mileage, with a vehicle that is putting out less than 1/1,000,000 of the particulate emissions of a non SULEV emissions vehicle. So in addition to helping out your pocketbook, you're helping with our dependence on oil and with harmful emissions to boot.

So I wouldn't have any concerns about it at all, especially seeing as 1 in 4 Highlanders sold in the US currently are with the Hybrid drivetrain with no known consistant issues with them.
