Being that it's a 60* V6, most aftermarket choices are good. However, this is a really open ended opinion based question/answer. There are a large host of aftermarket mufflers out there to try. You have Dynomax, Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Spintech, SLP, Flowtech, as well as other lesser known brands.I have a 97 chevy fullsize pickup how do i install the brake light switch?
However my own opinion based on things I've tried, Dynomax will be a similar sound tone to stock, just louder, Flowmaster will be Raspy, but have a pleasant sound, and Magnaflow will have a strong, non-raspy clean sound. Overall, I would go with Magnaflow Magnapacks.

but really your best bet is to find someone else who has modified their G6 and compare. Sound is subjective. what I like, the next guy might not like.

A stock muffler ,they are quiet.The stock muffler ! it is against federal law to tamper with the noise level of that car, to go along with your new muffler why dont you remove the cat ? When you do that you can come back here and ask the question why is my check engine lite on ! in closing just a great way to screw up a nice car and ruin the enviorment it operates in !

Before you go messing with it make sure you dont have stainless exhaust. It would be a waste because you shouldnt ever have to replace it, it doesnt rust out or anything like that.Besides the fact that you never know what will happen messing with the exhaust on new cars these days, you could get yourself into computer problem hell.

Wow, all the people that answered before me aren't really helping you at all are they. First, to answer your question, I personally like the sound of Borla mufflers, they are slightly more expensive then some of the other brands, but they last forever and they just sound very smooth and mellow.Second, to contradict what some other people said, changing the muffler is not a federal offense. In some states, or even towns there are noise ordinances, but not all, by a long shot. It is however against the law to remove a catalytic converter. Plus, as long as you're not racing around revving your engine as high as it will go all over town, the police are not going to to pull you over for a new muffler.
So, whether you take my advice on the Borla or not, I would highly recommend a new exhaust.
