From what I have heard on this, the computer adjusts the timing, spark, fuel injectors, and temporarily shuts them down when there is not a demand for full power from the engine.It's kind of like the other four cylinders are just moving up and down in the block but are not producing power until they are activated. How it works is a solenoid controlled by the pcm is turned on to bleed off oil to the valve lifters for that cyl that is disabled.it only activates after the vehicle has reached a certain speed and load conditions are right.Which is better, Honda CR-V, Toyota Rav 4 or the Ford Edge?
