My car has a burning rubber smell coming through the vent and it the check airbag light started flashing, then the radio died and then when stopped a t a stop sign the car died would not do anything when key turned. I towed it to my office after a few hours it started I drove it down the street and back then left it and started it and went dwon the street ok. When I came out of the shop it would do anything it was dead again. When it was boosted it would start. Then when I brought it backl to the office and tried to start it again it was dead.......What is wrong with it?? Please help.

Sounds to me like you broke either the alternator fan belt or the serpentine fan belt.Replacing a CV Axle on my car?
Either one would eventually cause your battery to go dead while driving and you not being able to restart the car.
Get the vehicle to a mechanic and get the belt(s) replaced.

Sounds like you have a crack in your distributor cap. Replace that first, it should only cost 40-60 bucks, if that doesn't work then you have a short in the electrics that is causing the starter to fail.96 civic cx hatch 5 speed, power sterring?
My guess is that it is the distributer cap though as if it has a crack it will widen when the engine is hot, then be fine when it cools down.

it sounds liek you fan belt is burning away or your starter motor has burnt out they are the only burnig smells you would get and your car not starting at the same time or possibly the alternator belt has gone nothing major just take to a garage and they will sort it out for you simple 30 minute job good luck

well first i would make sure i ha d good connections at the battery , and Mazda's have a fuse block near the battery check for corrosion and loose grounds they will let power thru and than short out again , it almost sounds like a loose ground wire at the engine follow the battery terminal wires too see if loose start thereMore Questions & Answers ...
