they chrysler cooperative is how mitsubishi introduced itself into the united states. it started by importing mitsubishi cars and trucks for dodge/chrysler. often without even changing the name such as the dodge colt, and the odge lancer ( at least i think it was dodge it may have been the chrysler lancer but i think it was dodge.) mitsubishi used this money to begin shipping their own vehicles here in 1981. throughout this time frame there were many many times that they colaborated and even just put a new name on a mitsubishi or chrysler product. this joint venture was called Diamond Star Motors . also known as DSM. the eclipse, was also the eagle talon and the plymouth laser. the mitsubishi montero was the dodge raider, the mitsubishi starion was the chrysler conquest, and so on and so on. in later years they also would redesign small portions of the vehicles. like the eclipse GT was the same car as the sebring LXI and the stratus RT. the only difference being the size of the interior and exterior or the vehicle. this joint venture known as DSM ended in 2004 when the two companies parted ways. it was a long time coming and neither one was really upset by the split. chrysler has never and will never own any part of mitsubishi. mitsubishi is a multi national global company that has many business partners but they are still owned by mitsubishi.. on a side not mitsubishi owns the largest bank in the world.Where can i get molding for my green pontiac grand prex? and how much?
well to get the DSM thing cleared up 89-95 (jan thru mar) were the only years DSM had a contract with Mitsubishi after that Mitsubishi started to use there own motors it was 15% that they own now i worked in the Mitsubishi motor company main offices for 2 years and a friend of mine worked for diamond star motors for 4 years to answer you question they have been with them since the beginning of there first sale in the U.S, D&C helped introduce Mitsubishi motors to the U.S and as the very much alike body styling of mits,plymoth,eagle were just the pantint did not exist there for it was free game to use the eclipse styling and the 3000gt.What wires go where?
