Why is my Peugeot 206 engine making a ticking noise?

Question:
my car makes a ticking noise that increases with the revs. my mate was supposed to have done an oil change and cam belt etc about 6 months ago and i took it to a garage today who said it could be one of the hydraulic lifters collapsing or the tappetts.

Answers:

Congratulations Detroit, great car show. Please, more of that, America still designs great looking cars!?

Could be the timing belt..

.902J/gC*4.5g*99.5-X C = 4.418J/gC*12g*x-21 C what does this equal to?

Wrong-- it's the self-destruct device built into all Peugeots you hear. It will all be over soon....
