I have a 1999 Honda Accord and cannot open my hood of car because when I pull the latch inside it doesnt open?

Question:
Is there another way to open my hood of my car, without damaging it? The latch in the inside of my car to pop open the hood does not seem to be working right as I pull on this lever and I do not hear the hood pop open. Confused as I dont want to take it to the dealer. any suggestions are appreciated thank you...

Have someone pull the latch and give the hood a tap in the area where it latches, might need to be adjusted.

The latch for the hood on the inside of the car has a cable that it's attached to it, it may have become disconnected. If you wish perform the repair yourself, I'd advise you purchasing a Chilton's Repair Manual for your specific car. Otherwise you can just take it into the Dealership.

Sometimes the cable breaks causing the problem. If it is broken on the handle end you can pop it out of the backside of the pull handle and get a small pair of pliers or vise grips and pull the cable manually. If it is the latch under the hood you may have to reach up in and try to manipulate it by hand..this isnt much fun. You could also enlist the help of a friend to sit in the car and pull the handle while you try to pop the latch..sometimes the latch gets sticky and you can gently bang on the hood to try and free it.

the cable to your hood came unhooked or it broke, probably have to get a new cable, you can open it up by looking underneath the hood you will see where the latch is you should be able to use a screwdriver or pliers to release the latch.

i own a shop, and run across this a lot ,you need to have someone pull on the cable and you try and open the hood if that fails you can get to it from the out side and reach up through and get a hood of it,and open it this way,id get me a new cable for it,this will get old having to do it like this, a good junk yard should have a cable for around 20 bucks to fit it,good luck,i hope this help,s.

Something like the latch might be seized up under there. I had a similar issue with an old car of mine.

jeep wrangler 2000?

I'd try this first - get a piece of rope and tie it to the hood popper handle in the car, pull it out and then tie the other end to the steering wheel (so it holds it open) then try pulling open your hood manually - you might need a bit of elbow grease, but it should open up. You can obviously just get someone to hold the handle out while you try to pull the hood open as well.
