1997 pontiac grand am heater?

no matter where the dial is the temperature stays the same coming out of the heater (luke warm)

Two possibilities come to mind.

why doesnt this list of cars have Isuzu on it ? I ve never even heard of a Tata, or a Seat?


1) If moving the lever had *no* effect whatsoever and the lever (or knob) doesn't feel like it's connected to anything, the cable between the lever/knob and the mechanism that controls the heat may have broken. That's a fairly time-intensive repair and can cost some bucks.

2) If moving the lever towards cold makes the air cold but moving towards hot makes the air only lukewarm, you may have a broken thermostat. That's in the engine plumbing and it opens and closes automatically to keep the coolant in the engine warmed up to a specific temperature. If that gets stuck open, all the heat goes out the radiator and none stays in the engine. That's a pretty quick and inexpensive fix.

The knobs on those cars were common for cracking and the temp could not be changed, pull the knob and inspect, if that is not your problem it sound like you may have a restricted heater core.
