You need to put a fuel pressure gauge on it and see if the fuel pressure goes down after shutting engine off. If it does it probably needs a fuel pump(in tank) or regulator. There is a check valve in the pump that can wear out arter a while or the regulator seat could be worn. If either lets the pressure bleed off when turned off the heat from the engine will cause the fuel to boil. Gasoline boils at a lower temp than water. When it boils it all gets pushed back to the fuel tank. If you can't get a presure gauge try turning key to run for five seconds then off then on for five then try to start. If it is improved you know your going in the right direction.
