Installing a locking hub on a 2000 Ford F250?

Question:
The locking hub is missing now and I need to replace it. Do I have to remove the entire hub to replace it or can it be put on without removing the wheel, caliper and rotor? This particular locking hub does not have any screws or bolts on it. It is just a black knob. Thanks

You do not need to remove the wheel But you need to remove the center cap if equipped. Use a needle nose pliers and squeeze two tabs together that point towards you when looking at it. Then pull outward on two tabs and you will have the large snap ring in your hand. Then you need to pull and pry on hub until it slides out(sometimes stuck in there pretty good). Slide in new hub and push in snap ring until snaps into place.
