my headers are going to be replaced due to cracking, how many o2 sensors are therei a 96 cx hatch, i believe theres 2 but need to know before ordering hearders wit 1 or 2 o2 sensor inserts?

A 96 CX hatch has two sensors but I cannot remember if if they are both in the header or not.How much did a regular base model Ford pick-up truck cost in 1940, 1943, and 1967?
I think you may run into a problem putting headers on because as I recall the header has the cat built in.

If that is the case you will through a Check engine light. The light is for the secondary O2 sensor. No prob if it don't bother you.

But for emissions depending on your state you will fail unless you mount a cat on after the header like the EX models. Should be easy enough. Just something to think about if your state is strict.

Also they make a sensor that fools the ECU into thinking there is an O2 sensor when there is not. Cost $45 on ebay. Easy to tap into the factory harness (4 wires)

So I guess you could order the header for an EX, go to the junk yard and get an old EX cat or buy a new high flow one. ($75-$175). Then the only other thing to do would be extend the wires from the secondary O2 sensor from the front of the motor to behind the new cat. You will also need the flange that hooks up the exhaust re-welded at a muffler shop and an O2 bung installed behind the cat. ($50 tops at muffler shop)
