haynes or chiltons manual,$25 at parts store, step by step with picturesDoes the cig. light in the 01 GTI 1.8t have a fuse in it?
first ask yourself is it worth fixing. You may want to get a new car instead. if you want to keep it I suggest investing in a chiltons repair manual for it. I have driven many an old heap of crap and chiltons makes he best repair manuals they are step by step with photos. I fixed many a thing with the help of these manuals coming from a non mechanical back groud. you need to get theChrysler Front-Wheel Drive Cars, 6 Cylinder, 1988-95 edition of the repair manuals. its available online at www.chiltonsonline.com then goto do it yourself manuals then check under dodge it cost about $25 but you'll get that money back the first time you fix something yourself.
What do the dash lights on an 1987 Toyota Celica GT mean?
Make sure you get a Haynes manual from checkers first off. Then get after it. The half shaft would be on the Drivers side. Guess you would jack it up two turns on the jack handle then get a socket that would fit your axle, to remove the axle nut you do it this way because you need the weight of the Vehicle to break loose the axle nut, then continue jacking it up remove the tire pull off the rotor and caliper after you take the two bolts out behind the caliper. Then loosen the knuckle joint and slide the axle over the CVC connector and when the CVC joint is loose pull straight out with it to remove it from the Trans and make sure to have a bucket under it that will fit so you can catch the oil leaking out of the trans. Then grab hold of the New CVC joint and reverse everything to install it. Good Luck. If you do this yourself your going to save about $310.00 bucks. You can by a brand new CVC from NAPA with a life time gurranteed for $60.00 to $83.00 bucks delivered just in case you don't have a ride to get the part.can a 1996 manual transmission mount up to a 1970 300 c.i.?
First make sure you follow all safety measures. Lift the front or the whole vehicle. If you choose to lift only the front use Good jackstands under the solid part of the frame but not where it will interfere with your work. Block the rear tires with blocks or bricks so the vehicle will not roll off the jack stands and make sure you are on a cement pad or flat ground that is hard not grass!Remove the tires on the side of the vehicle that you are working on and set it out of your way I like to slide it under the car on the side that I am working on for an extra measure of safety should the car slide off the stands. If you have access to air tools great, take the cotter pin from the axle on the side your working on and the lock ring put the lock ring in your bolt tray throw the old cotter pin away and use a brand new one. Remove the axle nut I believe its either 32 or 36 mm socket and its tight! (normal rotation) If you do not have air tools do this step before you raise the car off the floor just loosen the nut then lift the car. Ok now take the lower ball joint bolt out its a 14 or 15 mm scoket put the bolt in your tray. Take off the front sway bar mounts from the lower control arms on Both sides and swing the bar down and out of the way. Push the lower control arm down and pull the lower ball joint out of the steering knuckle and pull out on the steering knuckle push in on the end of the axle if its stuck DO NOT HIT THE END WITH A HAMMER BECAUSE IT WILL MUSHROOM THE END AND THE AXLE WILL NOT FIT THROUGH THE HUB.Use a puller that bolts to three of the wheel studs and push the axle out, puss the spindle out of the way and use a bungee cord to hold it out of your way carefull you do not damage the rubber brake line and do not disconnect the brake line you do not need to. Pull the axle out of the transmission if it is stuck you can gently use a pry bar to "pop" the axle out of the transmission. Match your old and new axle good before you try to install the new one they must hav the same number of splines and length must be the same. Position the new axle on the transmission shaft where the old one came from and push it on you need to have it straight and might have to use a plastic deadblow hammer to drive it on by hitting the outer end. Once it goes in just let the steering knuckle free from its rope and put the outer splines through the hub make sure you clean the inner splines good and lube it some make it go throught all the way and then line up the ball joint and let it go into the knuckle install its mount bolt. Put the nut and if there is one the washer on the end of the axle and tighten the nut line up the hole for the cotter pin and install it.
Reinstall the sway bar and tighten the bolts. Go back over all your work and make sure you have all bolts tight and none missing make sure the wheel will spin by hand reinstall your tire assembly and lower the car test the brakes before you go on a test drive, test and listen for any unusual noises or operation.
