Question:
Well, i'm about to go to college and my parents said if i finished, they would buy me a new trans am (if they start making them by then, since there is no news yet) but if not, i want to get another fast sporty car. I really like Pontiac. I love the look of their Solstice, but i like the performance of the G8 GT or even a GTO. I don't want something too expensive, just worth the money. I definately don't want a Camaro or Mustang because they are too common. Any ideas? What do you think about the Solstice or G8?

eww pontiac?Should i lease a mdx sport package lexus rx350?
Well, Andii.hopefully in college you will learn to do good research, and then you can make your decision intelligently. None of the cars you mentioned are very reliable (the Solstice has already had at least one recall) or very well made. Why do you think they stopped making the Camaro/Firebird? And, all except the Solstice get lousy gas mileage. The aren't making the GTO anymore either -- same reasons. How about a Honda S2000, Mazda Miata, VW GTI, Or Mazdaspeed 3? All are fast, reliable, and get good gas mileage.
Have fun at school.
none of those are particularly smart buys (GTOs arent bad for the money though).
I recently bought a1994 jeep wrangler is it a YJ or CJ or what and can you put a chevy engine in it?
the solstice is a good car, but the miata is significantly better in all aspects (except possibly looks).
the G8 is crap, just like the G6.
Where is the fuel filter on a diesel 307 Peugeot?
The Subaru WRX STis are great, practical performance cars, as are ther Mitsubishi lancer Evolutions (NOT THE NORMAL LANCERS! evos only).
Is 5,000 to much to pay for a 1997 honda accord with 250,ooo kilometors?
and i dont have a clue why youd like pontiac so much. Theyre unreliable, they depreciate like mad, and overall are very lackluster cars.
How do you change an intake manifold on a 93 Buick ?
and you still got quite a few years ahead of you. 4 years in car terms is a long time. Think about it when you get closer to finishing.
Hi i found this car but don't know the model?
You're going to college. Why not wait 4 years and see what the market is like? Things are gonna be WAY different.Whats faster a 2006 pontiac GTO or a the new mustang cobras?
And if they have a Trans Am in 4 years, it's gonna be pretty common anyway, so would that eliminate it from your list? Right now, I somewhat doubt the debut of a Firebird of any sort because Pontiac will have a GTO but, like I said, things will be different in 4 years.
Hopefully, by the time you finish, you are smarter than you are now, and will not settle for a cheaply made piece of garbage aka pontiac. If it doesn't happen, you will have wasted money on education...
If Courtney Love were a car- what kind of car would she be?
Geez, what's with all the Pontiac haters? You should probably think about what you really want and (unless you can afford to have 2 rides) what you need in a car. You won't get a new GTO. They've stopped making them due to lack of sales, which is really just a cheater way of saying poor marketing. The G8 GT is the supercharged model correct? I have a 2005, except they still called it a Grand Prix, and the model was GTP (trivia...2005 was the last model year to feature a GTP moniker). It's big, heavy, and front drive. Still fun, but subject to all the shortcomings of big, heavy front drive cars. It may be more car than you really require just out of school. Unless you like bigger cars, which is fine. It gets about mid-20 mpg...high 20's on the highway. On the other hand, I heard a rumor that Pontiac's going rear drive in the future. It'll still be big and heavy.I think the Solstice is a unique car. It's very American...different, but still attractive. Since your folks are clearly rolling in cash, I would push for the GXP turbo model. it should get mildly better fuel economy than the Grand Prix.
This has already been stated, but the automobile market is going to be different in 4+ years. Maybe you should wait till then to make your decision. Also keep in mind that in 4+ years, virtually every car you've mentioned (Grand Prix, Solstice, Camaro, Mustang, and a Firebird if they make one) will be fairly common.
Have fun, good luck in school.
For those who have a sr20det will a s14 alternator fit a s13?
I sell cars for a living. I sell alot of different makes and models. I see a lot of cars which I call Fad Cars (pt cruiser, vw beatle, mini cooper, and now the new solstice and sky.) Although they are great cars they come and go as far as popularity. You should first find out if you need two seats or four seats in this fancy sports car.
Then find out if you are looking for something fast or pretty (sometimes both).
Then convertible or hard top.
Manual or automatic.
If you choose a import sports car odds are with you that you will not lose much value, so if you get bored with the first one you choose then you would not be stuck in that car forever. Paying on a car that has lost 25% of it value in one year is not fun.
But to basically answer your question look at the the Nissan 350Z, if you like sweet import rides that are fast, cool, worth alot, rated again and again top 10 cars.
Thats what I drive on the weekends. (2003 350 z)
