If the spark plugs and wires have been replaced since the car was new and the engine was running good since, I would hook up an OBD-II scanner to the OBD connector below the steering column area under the dash. A technician can interpret the long and short term fuel trim numbers and the misfire error codes etc. Emissions system problems like EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve and manifold passage clogging can cause a lean misfire in one or more cylinders. And a cylinder fuel injector could be clogged and causing a misfire. But once a quick look at these things has been made, I'd go back and recheck the spark plugs and wires to make sure every cylinder's spark shows good on an ignition analyzer scope. However, if a spark plug or plug wire is bad, I would expect the misfire to get worse as you drove the car up a long hill with the engine under heavy load.More Questions & Answers ...
