For WRX STI owners. How is the spoiler installed in the trunk?

Question:
Before I ask, I know what you're thinking...why didn't you just get the trunk with the spoiler in it? Well, my grandfather got me the STI spoiler and I have a wingless WRX trunk. And I am pretty much others have gone the same route as me and just getting the spoiler.

Anyway, first question is, how is the spoiler held in place? The spoiler has several threaded rods sticking out of it (screws are inside the spoiler and cannot be taken out), and they seem to be held down by nuts as opposed to screws.

My husband has a '85ford ranger, good to fair. new tires. smokes. didn't pass emissions but has current tabs.

Also, any tips on how to properly line up the spoiler? Is the back of it flush with the trunk, or does it stick out of the trunk a little bit?
