i have a 03 subaru wrx with modifications and being sent to the smog referee and would like to see if there are any exemptions i can use so i wouldnt have to remove all engine parts

Smog exemptions are for a whole car. Like the GM battery powered EV-1. What you are looking for should be modifications that are legal or illegal. Modifications to the engine or driveline of a CALIF vehicle may be allowed by the Bureau of Automotive Repair if the modification does not in any way change the exhaust gas composition. For example, you can install chrome valve covers if all the crankcase filters, hoses and venting devices are installed as in the original vehicle configuration. You could also install the wrong kind of a spark plug, but if you failed the bi-ennial smog test, you would not be able to renew your registration or sell your car until you get the problem fixed. Calif. has a great quantity of Smog Referee Stations where you can go to get help with a car that repeatedly fails the Calif. smog test. Sometimes a manufacturer builds a car model where most or all of that one car model repeatedly fail the standard smog test because of some device that is not perfected. The Dept. of Consumer Affairs can give temporary exemptions for this kind of pattern failure.most likely there are no exceptions from the smog laws.

Not a single state has an exemption for a self modified vehichle especially one that is this new. You will get your tags pulled and forced to bring it back to factory specs to get it registered. Save yourself sometime put it back the way it should be.Is there a cd changer, other the one sold by Honda, that fits a 2006 Honda Civic?
If they want to be real nasty they could tag your car for off road use only then you will be in a big mess.

if you can prove that the parts are carb legal then you would not have to. California Air Research Board. Your parts would either have stickers or carb number on them. \
