I own a shop, and yes there is a difference. Since the GMC carries the company logo, it has always been the more work oriented truck, and usually has things the Chevy doesn't. Some of these things include a heavy duty transmission, or a tranny that has more gears, better spring package for hauling a heavier load, better shocks, and a different creature comfort package than the Chevy. The GMC has always been considered the work truck, and the Chevy the every day driver, and the packages that come with these trucks back this up.

But it's funny you ask this question now. For the first time in years there is a difference between the Silverado and Sierra in sheet metal and powertrain offerings. Chassis is the same , but the presentation is very different.
