Question:
Hello, i own a 1999 f-150 4.6L v8 with 100,000 miles. I use mid grade (89octane) fuel. I do this because my engine seems to rattle on 87octane. Anyways, i have noticed recently that if i quickly push the pedal down, it seems to spudder(i believe that would be the propper term) kind of like it is not getting fuel. I love this truck so much and i want it to be in better running condition. Any suggestions on treatments for the engine? I really need help!! Thanks for your time and consideration.

When one shock breaks do you have to replace?
I'm assuming there is no check engine light on?Based on the information provided, I would suspect the fuel pressure regulator. It is vacuum operated and is supposed to increase fuel pressure when vacuum drops (under load). Sounds like it is not compensating and you are getting a lean condition. It could also be a weak fuel pump...
If it's been awhile get a tune up.It could be the plugs,(misfire from heavy load)the air filter(being dirty causeing a rich mixture)Tune up 1st!And also check all vacume lines, try spraying wd-40 on the engine while it's at idle,if there's a change in rpm then you have a bad rubber hose or gasket somewhere.hope this helps.
