Question:
Is there anyone here who owns or previous owned a Chevy Malibu that can share their experiences? I bought a '97 Malibu in 2002 and since then I had to replace the alternator and then the battery shortly afterwards. (Replacing the battery screwed up the gas gauge) then, about two years later I had a problem with the intake manifold (causing coolant to leak into the engine), fan switch (wouldn't work on 1 or 2), fuel pump, hydro pulleys, and brake replacement every 20,000 miles or so. These are the things I have had to replace on this car. Has anyone else had this many problems with their Malibu?

I smell GAS in my 1993 Honda accord?
Those malubu's by GM eats up brakes like crazy. The pads are just too small and thats why they dont last. Also, the fan not working on 1 or 2 is a common problem with GM cars. What happens is water (condensation) falls into the blower resistor and causes it to rust and as a result, the low speeds stop working. The gas gauge is bad because the fuel level sensor in the gas tank is bad and is only meant to last about 5 years and needs replacement. The pulleys are also a "wear" item and needs to be replaces often. In my opinion, these are poorly designed cars. I would get rid of it if I were you. Do not but a pontiac grand am, grand prix, olds cutlass, olds alero. These are GM's W- body cars and are notorious for these problemsMore Questions & Answers ...
