Peugeot 307 Tappet noise?

Hi all,

What is wrong with my T-bird ?

My 4 year old 1.6 Peugeot 307 (29k on the clock), has developed a rather annoying ticking noise from the top of the engine when the engine is cold, it sounds like loud crickets, the noise happens when the car decelerates to about 1800 revs. When the engine has fully warmed up the noise disappears could it be a stuck valve? or failing coil pack.

What makes a jeep such a good offroad vehicle?

I would rather not send it into peugeot to be looked at as they are very expensive, is this noise anything to worry about?

I have a 1999 Honda Civic Sedan. I just recently got the needle on "E" the gas light still has not come on...

Sometimes when i hear people talking about cars or electrical they mention a "short"?

could be many problems. pop the bonnet first whilst car is running it could be a plastic cover loose. this is common on all modern cars. a "tappet noise" is nothing to worry about aslong as your oil is at a good level

my farther in law had the same trouble on his 307 last week we took it to a garage and found it be his cam/crankshaft pulley and had to be replaced.Was told he shouldnt drive to far with this problem.
