Does anybody own a 1989 Mercedes 4 door? If so, how do they run?

I'll be driving soon. I always wanted to own a 1989 Mercedes 4 door. Im not shure which model. I belive a 300 series. If anybody owns one, how do they run. How are they on gas?

Are you referring to the w126 series? That is the big body and came with several engine options including the 6 cylinder in the 380 SE. I have the 560 sel with the 5.6 Lt V-8. I have found it to be a very reliable car. With 18.6 mpg and parts readily available on eBay. There is a 3.8 LT in line 6 cyl that should give 20+ mpg and the same reliability. Enjoy and drive safely.

well my 83 300sd gets 41mpg diesel. Gas are ok,only run premium.Should get 21city,28 hiway if a 6 cylinder. avoid Benz's after 1990.Aluminum heads and diesels don't mix.Aluminum can't take the compression.

I assume you are talking about a W124 300E they are very good cars and will give you miles of trouble free driving. Mpg is about 20-22.
