I have that exact car, 150,000 miles and still going strong. It did need a brake job once, a set of tires, sparkplugs and a couple of light bulbs but it's been a good vehicle. I only had one breakdown, around 100,000 miles the crank position sensor failed, not expensive or hard to change but it did leave me stranded and cost me a tow. But hey, nothing is perfect, and all cars do break from time to time. I would ( probably will) buy another Hyundai after this one wears out, though I expect to get at least another 100,000 miles out of it, it runs like new.

my wife bought one and i dont neccessarily like it, but it really hasnt given us any major problems. It doesnt handle nearly as well as my sports car but then again the hyundai is not a sports car. It is a good vehicle for transportation, not looks, or speed, it does kinda shift nice though but it does have a long throw between gears. she likes it and i guess thats all that matters. Do you like it?

I've owned my 99 model for 8 years - bought her brand-new with 27km's (16 miles) on it and the ONLY problem I've had is a single cylinder misfire, and 1 flat battery!
I've done over 180,000km (111,000 miles) and I still have the original clutch!
I done quite a few modification to it over the years and it's never let me down.
I think it's how a vehicle is treated and looked after that depends on the life of it. Yet having said that, I have met a few people that own or have own the same as mine and they have had a few drama's with it. Sticking windows, gearbox problems, timing problems.. Like any car really.
Any car can give you problems, especially if it's 2nd hand and you don't know the way it's been treated before you.
