Question:
The engine blew last Wednes and it was confirmed by a 2nd opinion today. This car is my BABY and I'm devastated. It's a 1989 with 165K. Look, you may think I'm crazy - I know it's 18 yrs old --but I really want to try and hold on to it.This car and me ... we have a history. The thought of it going to a junk yard cuts me like a knife! Anyway, in the last 3 dys since it happened, I've spoken to a slew of mechanics and learned that a large % of them have stopped doing this kind of work (dealing with &installing new engines) for various reasons. I really need some advice and direction. I've always been a self-sufficient gal, but this is an area where I need some help from people I can trust. I started looking around online tonite at used cars. Gosh, here I'm thinking my car's mileage is so high. There were cars with HIGHER mileage than mine! What should I do? Is it feasible for me to save my car? And even if I find the engine, who can I get to put it in for me? Engine:#3SFE, 2000CC, 16 Valve
Answers:
check your Toyota dealership , i put used engines in all the time
i will put in what ever the customer wants , cheapest will be a junk yard motor , should be easy to find a 3s-fe with around 70-80k or if your body is clean and need alot more years check with jasper engines the come complete with a good warranty. the most expensive will be a reman Toyota short block plus you will have a lot more labor putting old head on new block if you go for the used expect to get it done around 1,500.00 parts and labor
cant say for jasper engine you will have to call on the price on that engine.Hope i could help if anybody knows how loyal Toyota owners are its me.

I really feel for you if what you say is true. I am a mechanic, have been for 32 years and I can't believe these guys call themselves mechanics, Like "DUH" What are people supposed to do just buy a new car every time one breaks down? Yeah ! that makes us lots of money...NOT!....Sorry I've gone into a ramble.. As hard as it may be where you live try to find a Mechanic that's not full of bull and it shouldn't be any problem to replace the engine.ps. Expect to spend some $$ to save your baby. It wont be cheap.
I just got a '99 Suburban and it feels like it is all over the road?
have you tried the mechanics at a toyota dealership? you probably have but i'm just asking because my husband works at a dealership and he puts engines in older cars all the time so i am not sure why they are saying they can't do it. they may not beable to get a completly new engine though but i think sometimes they can get a rebuilt one. but like someone else said be prepared cause it will cost alot of moneyWhy is the new (stock) Honda Odessey so fast?

SRT 8 jeep or mustang or MB S350L which 1 i should buy ?
Sorry about your baby. You can go to the dealer ship.I have worked at one,if you dont go for a short block from them you can ask them too call around.we would or had a few places that would offer used motors.they usually have a short warrenty,to cover if it is defective.the tech will probably offer certain things to be done ie. change hoses, seals, water pump, that sort of thing. It will be to your benifit and decision to choose. It will not be cheap,or the cheapest route to take but you will be better off, since you are so fond of this vehicle.why motor vehicles tyres are black in colour.?
The best thing to do may be to get another vehicle ,keep this one to fix and retain your memories. That would all depend on our situation and the condition of the car.If you drive alot, you may want or be better off with a newwer one.If ou stay local you can rely on ole luv bug.Hope this helps,I dont know where you are to recomend the places with the motor,I am in the south and some of the places are regional.Good luck
