Okay, one day I get in my Expedition. and turn the A/C it worked fine in the front, then I turned the rear A/C on, it works too, but there is a crazy noise coming from arond the wheelwell area in the back. The noise only starts when I turn the rear A/C on and goes away when I turn it off. It sounds like someone banging their fist on a wall, and and happens about once every two seconds. It's really loud too!

There is a motor that is used for the temperature control of the rear a/c that has gone bad... when they go bad, instead of turning, they ratchet like that making the god awful noise...
the expansion valve noise is a whistling like noise not the thump they are hearing.
Has anybody else driven the Cadillac CTS-V?
And Tahoes got the same electrical motor B/S as the expedition... that's what we get from moving from mechanical to electrical on everything.
