Are there any known problems w/ the 98 eclipse spyder it has a 2.4L 16V SOHC?

I have seen a lot of posts on 2nd generation engines but not peticularly the 2.4L 16V SOHC......was just wondering if they were trouble when modified with new throtlebody and intake also larger exaust?

lots of issues with starters going out and alternators. General exhaust / engine really has no issues. I would not recommend adding horsepower without upgrading the tranny, if it is an auto then "good luck". A manual tranny i would upgrade to at least a stage 2 or 3 clutch. Many people argue that if you boost or upgrade a 2.4 then there are issues with performance. I would get a 2.0turbo and modify that, they were built for performance from factory, the 2.4 was not
