Vg30dett into a 1964-1966 Mustang?
I'm a mechanic, own a shop, and build many engines. There are several ID markings on the block. Some of the answers are somewhat correct, but not really. On the drivers side, on the top of the block, just above the bell housing you will find the casting numbers that identifies what the engine is, if it is for 2/4 wheel drive vehicle, what liter/cubic inch the block is, what the block is made of, when it was cast, and what plant, date, and shift that made the block. On the passenger front side of the engine just under the head is a pad that has the build information. This will be some numbers followed by some letters. This is the most important information about the engine. It has a code that can be broke down to tell what vehicle it came out of (Chevy, truck, Malibu, Impala, or others), and tells all the important things like the bore, the package such as high performance, even the transmission that was attached behind it.Glad to help you. Good Luck!
