Check with your state DMV to see if there is an emissions testing exemption for cars built before a certain date. In my state that is 1995. Porsche was barely able to make the air-cooled engines meet EPA rules at the time, and this is the main reason the newer type 911 engines are water-cooled.
Differences between '03 TL and TL-S?
911's are very durable and otherwise easy to live with, A/C ineffectiveness aside, but emissions compliance could become difficult and expensive should your state testing become more stringent.

Can you provide me with a comparison of a Porsche Cayenne TURBO vs. a Range Rover Sport Supercharge?
didtch the Porsche.....get a car that is really fast and looks great and its comfortable and beats 200k Super cars...... by the way, it blows the doors off of the Porsche Carerra GT1,2 and 3. beats ferrari and lambo.....and its gets good gas mileage doing it! this car is the 2007 Corvette Z06I highly suggest ditching the tipronic idea. It totally ruins the driver aspect of the car. If you want an air cooled tiptronic, go for a 993. You dont sound like you want the extreme driving experiance, so the 993 is the most refined of the air cooled P-cars. they also do hold their value very very well.
Can any other car get better gas mileage than a VW?
I, personally (and did) would buy a 930 turbo though. Not too expensive (mid 20s for a very very nice condition one), fast, brutal, and so rediculous to drive.
86 OR 89
i know because the 944 those two years were excellent.
and i see more 86's o the road...

The 993 cars (1995 to 1998) were the most well resolved and reliable, but the OBD 2 cars (96+) could suffer from some emissions-related issues that would neccesiate an engine rebuild.lpg service stations in wiltshire?
The 964 cars (1989 - 94) are a bit more expensive to maintain generally, but right now are at a very favorable price point.
Do they still have credit cards that give rebates on Ford Vehicles?
The 930 cars (prior to 89 - back to the late 70's) have relatively antiquated suspensions so handle a bit differently (really huge trailing throttle oversteer, especially when wet out).
I have a '95 993 and love it - it's a bit cheaper than the 96+ cars, but suffers none of the same issues with emissions. However, be aware that properly maintaining these cars can cost quite a bit - if you have not owned an older car before, you're in for a treat, replacing cracked rubber items, flushing out old fluids, etc.

See if you can get one with records, to show that it's been well maintained.
