2000 honda civic si security, burglary proof?

Question:
Hi guys i just bought a 2000 honda civic si and just to say, this car drives great and it is all stock( i really dont think this car needs aftermarket parts for a daily driver). BTW, i live in an partment complex, but everytime i get home from work and park my car i am always scared the whole night, and have to somethimes wake up and night just to check on the car (sounds crazy huh?), i think the car wont be there in the morning. One of my friends had his 2000 gsr stolen a month ago later to find it a month later stripped out to nothing, practically worthless (no engine, no seats, no tires, no steering wheels, no brakes, no cluster the list goes on)
Is it possible to install some kind of engine lock so the car cannot be moved only if it is activated by some switch ( am i just been futuristic or do they really have stuff like this). Does anybody have any ideas.
Am i been paranoid here or realistic.
Help....

Antifreeze leaking on 1990 GMC Pickup?

First I would purchase a regular car alarm. Something that will make noise if a door is opened or a window is broken. All the other option's aren't really needed.

99 silverado remote for door locks/alarm stopped working, new batteries did not help. reset somehow? other?

Then I would ALWAYS park it so that the only access to the vehicle is from the back if your not parking it on the street, which is a no, no. Next turn the steering wheel all the way to the right or left and pull the key out. This helps to eliminate the ease of towing it. Although, they could still use a jack to roll it around. But that would require an open space on one side of your car. P.S. you can purchase a quick release steering wheel adapter also.

Then pull the ECU fuse. This prevents the motor from starting even if they get around a kill switch or something. Usually they won't waste the time to look for it and they might just leave since it doesn't start. Otherwise, you can always resort to removing the distributor rotor easily with a Phillips screw driver or 10 mm socket and ratchet.

Now this still doesn't really "Burgler Proof" the car but at least you know that the average "Joe Shmoo" won't grab your ride in the night.

By the way, I wouldn't listen to "D" about that "coded key" nonsense. That doesn't prevent a thief from stealing your car. That is just a small determent and satisfies the unknowing consumer that is buying it.

Remember, if they really want your car they will get it. Period. The best thing is to make it a BIG hassle for them to take yours so they go to someone else’s.... LOL

Get insurance and if you really want .....take the plugs out of the engine or remove a few vital parts so the car cannot be stolen!

torque converter...?

I wouldn't worry too much about it being stolen. You should have a coded key since it is a 2000 model. The way it works is that your key has a microchip which is then programmed to work with the car. Unless the thief can produce a Honda coded key and reprogram your car -- it is unlikely that they will be able to simply hot-wire and drive off.

whats a good drag raceing car thats not too exspensive?

If you are still wary of it being stolen -- I recommend you see a dealer and add in a factory alarm. It is much more difficult to bypass in the event it is tripped as the after market alarms would be.

Enjoy your civic.

did the 1970 plymouth fury or plymouth fury 3 come out with a 383 magnum?

I feel your pain. I have 3 Mustangs that I've supped up and they have been broken into a few times and a lot of my friends have actually had their stangs stolen and stripped. I wen to Fry's Electronics and purchased GPS tracker chips and placed in each one of my Mustangs and place grant security steering wheel removers on. Really no matter what you do if someone really wants to steal your car they will find a way around any security system you have, so really it's all about slowing them down. I found a place on the net were you can buy a boot like the ones the police use in NY and was contemplating getting it, so check it out. It's a bit expensive, but I look at all the money I sunk into my vehicles and it's a drop in the bucket compared to what I would lose if they were stolen and stripped. Also you can get an aftermarket steering wheel remover by "Grant" that allows for easily removal from your car so there is no way of it being driven off. Another thing you can do is remove your air intake tube from the throttle body so if the car is started, it will just die back down since no air is going to the engine. It's kind of a little hassle, but something you can consider doing. Anyhow check out the places with the boot and quick steering wheel remove. Good Luck!
