Will the cold make my engine slower?

Question:
Will starting my '98 Chevy 1500 4x4 up cold on winter mornings and driving it without letting it warm up reduce power over time? Is that typically bad for the engine? We're talking like 20-30 degrees Fahrenheit...will starting it up and instantly driving away eventually reduce power?

No that won't hurt your engine a bit. 20 to 30 degrees F is not cold. As for eventually reducing power, no that temp. will have no effect on it one way or the other.

Which is better a pocketbike or a gokart?

Driving your engine when it's not warmed up will decrease your engine lifespan and ultimately decrease power. What happens is That the surfaces in your internals wear out faster then they would normally because the oil in your engine is made to work best at a certain temperature and cold isn't it. However I don't think there's much you could do about cold starts but if you just wait till your truck warms up you should be fine...I hope this helps.

i own a probe 1.6lt i am thinking of buying a 2.5 lt model which would you say is the better model ford probe

letting the engine heat up could get the cold off the engine because if theres ice and such the engine may run a little slower. which is why when you turn the car on at first and the engine is cold after a few minutes the engine will have a different like a normal sound to it.

anybody purchased Toyota Yaris recently? i want to buy one 2006 Yaris, 1.5L, 4 doors, auto.?

No dont drive without warming up first! Its bad for the engine over the long run. Let it warm up until its at about 100F, thats probably around 5-7mins. As to cold weather making your engine slower, actually, cold air being denser makes your engine perform better, in other words you get the best power from it.

How much can i get for a 97' elantra with about 100k miles on it?

thick congeled oil is the main factor in warming an engine in cold weather... starting an engine is where most of your wear comes from..so actually you want the oil to be nice and hot when you put a load on your engine .. i.e putting it in gear...so i'd have to say the answer to your question is yes...

looking 4 Performance in my 88 Silverado 305/5.0-V8...?

It's always a good idea to let any motor warm up before you start to drive. this is very true for desiels and 2 strokes.
