2001 ECLIPSE GT, do i need chip key?

im wondering if i need a chip key for my 01 eclipse and my SRS sign is always lit on my dashboard...why??

Well first of all for the SRS light. That shows that there is a problem with the Airbag system in your car somewhere. It could be anything to do with the airbags there self, the sensors, or the wiring. The best way to have that checked out is at a Mitsubishi dealer. It is best, because airbags are dangerous to work with.
Now for the Key. All 2000 and up model Eclipses have the "Chip" in the key. That is in there for the Engine immobilizer on the car. You can purchase a key blank off of eBay and have it cut at a Locksmith. Then if you have you owners manual to your car there is instructions on how to program another key to your car if you have a key already.
If not you don't have the owners manual i would suggest taking the car in to the dealer to get a new key cut, programmed and have the airbag system serviced.
